This is an application for approval to operate the SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns in lieu of an HVLP spray gun in Imperial County per Rule 427 Section (C)(2)(a)(3).

We understand that the approval is based on the following conditions.

1. The SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns are only approved for the application of coatings subject to district rule 427.

2. This approval is only valid if the air pressure supplied to the SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns are equal to or less than 35 PSIG.

3. The SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns shall only be operated with the supplied external analog air micrometer with gauge 0/845, product no. 27771 attached to the spray gun and they shall be in good working condition whenever the spray gun is in operation.

4. This approval is only valid for the SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray gun models tested for the SCAQMD.

As you are aware, the South Coast Air Quality Management District completed a review of SATA Farbspritztechnik GmbH & Co. KG report entitled "Evaluation of the SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns for use in the SCAQMD area" dated August 8, 2003 including the supplemental information dated October 15, 2003 and November 4, 2003. The results of the transfer efficiency testing performed indicate that the SATAjet RP DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns are capable of achieving equivalent or better transfer efficiency than high-volume, low-pressure spray equipment. As a result, the SATAjet DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns were approved for operations subject to their Rule 1151.

Please provide written notification that we are approved to operate the SATAjet DIGITAL 2 and SATAjet RP non-DIGITAL spray guns in Imperial County.
